One of the best pieces of advice I ever got was, “constantly measure your progress.”
For instance, I set TIMELINE Deadlines several times each day. I also make verbal commitments to staff in me getting things to them. I work best I’ve found, under pressure to achieve.
Dan Kennedy said something like perfection should be used only when necessary… or something like that.
What he meant was, GET IT DONE, if perfection isn’t required. In other words, many times, we are rewarded not by how GOOD of a job we do (except I believe CLINICALLY speaking you must be as perfect as possible) but by how quickly we can get it done.
This week’s ACTION-TO-TAKE TIP: Take a lesson from restaurants…Right now, one of the BIGGEST “trends” at restaurants is take-out. You see, people are getting back to spending time at home…with their families, which is where they should be. Have you seen the latest Applebee’s commercials? They are targeted at nothing other than TAKE-OUT!Guess What? Outback Steakhouse is also getting in on the action! Do you know what other good reason to do that is? I’ll leave that one for you to think about…HINT: No one is taking up space in the restaurant! YOUR CHALLENGE: What can you do to capitalize on this HUGE trend in YOUR office? I have an idea, but I’ll share it another time…
